United Kingdom Commits £331 Million to Global Nature and Climate Action

The United Kingdom announced a £331 million international package on 24 September 2026 for climate, nature and security programmes. Of the total, £330 million is allocated to the Global Environment Facility.

The funding is intended to support food and water security, biodiversity protection, sustainable agriculture and fisheries, and resilience to droughts and floods. It also targets environmental degradation in countries exposed to climate-related instability.

The remaining allocation supports the United Nations Climate Security Mechanism, which works on links between climate impacts, fragility and conflict risks.
