OceanEye Mobilises More Than €211 Million for Global Ocean Observation
OceanEye secured pledges of at least €211 million for global ocean observation, with participation from more than 30 countries and the European Union. The initiative is designed to strengthen sustained collection and sharing of ocean data.
The European Union provided €92 million in seed funding. Canada also announced C$82 million over five years as part of the international mobilisation around the initiative.
OceanEye is intended to reinforce the Global Ocean Observing System and improve information used for weather forecasting, climate services, navigation, coastal protection and ocean science.
