Paraíba Strengthens Water Security with US$50 Million World Bank Financing
The World Bank approved US$50 million in financing for Paraíba, Brazil, to strengthen climate-resilient water security and sanitation services in the drought-prone northeastern state.
The programme will address service gaps in both urban and rural areas and support more resilient water and sanitation infrastructure. It is designed to improve reliability in a region exposed to recurrent water stress.
World Bank estimates associated with the programme indicate an employment effect equivalent to about 54,000 additional or better-paid jobs through the wider economic activity supported by the investment.
