Rural Development Today | Development Connects | Tripura | 12 October 2026
The North Tripura district administration signed a non-financial memorandum of understanding on 12 October 2026 with the Centre for Microfinance and Livelihood (CML), an initiative associated with Tata Trusts. District Magistrate and Collector Chandni Chandran and CML Executive Director Madhabananda Ray signed the agreement at the District Magistrate's office in Dharmanagar.
The agreement identifies springshed management, water security, agriculture, fisheries, livestock and education as areas of collaboration. Separate reporting also describes sanitation and hygiene, agricultural resilience, foundational literacy and skills as intended areas of work.
CML has undertaken springshed-related activities in Jampui Hills and Damchhera blocks since January 2025, according to a report published on 12 October. Under the new agreement the district administration is to coordinate with relevant departments, while CML will provide technical and field-level support.
The agreement is expressly non-financial. The reports do not specify a sanctioned budget, the number of participating households, planned infrastructure units, an implementation completion date or measured increases in incomes, farm output or school performance. It records a cooperation arrangement rather than a completed development outcome.
